A big thank you to all the people who came and watched our assembly on last Friday. We really loved seeing you there. We have a new link under our Basic Facts links called Story Starters. This is just a fun way to start writing stories.

News and Views for 29/7/13
I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and had fun. We are pleased to welcome Peyton Dickson to the class. She has been missed and we look forward to having her in Room Rimu. A big thank you to all the children who have returned their reading books from the holidays. For Oral language over the next 3 weeks we will be sharing something that the children have made at home and talking about it in class. It can be as simple as a picture or lego.
Room Rimu is pleased to welcome back Peyton to Myross Bush School. We hope you enjoy your time here Peyton, we sure love having you back!

We are all looking forward to the holidays but we hope the weather improves a bit so we can all get outside! I will be sending home some reading books so that everyone can keep up their reading over the next two weeks. You will still be able to go on to Study Ladder to access the activities on that site. The children will all have flash cards sets and the blog will have games to help with basic facts practice too. I hope everyone has a nice, warm and happy break.
Regards Natalie.
Certificates: Ricky and Lucy.

Thank You
Room Rimu would like to say a big thank you to Amilea's and Lucy's Nanny who sent the whole class a cup and bowl. We just need to have a party to use them. Perhaps we could use them on Friday at Mrs Forde's shared lunch?

What a wonderful job the class did at assembly last Friday. I was very proud of all of them. It is a big thing to able to stand up in front of the whole school and lots of adults and say their lines. This week we are going to be making some models of day and night so we can explain our thinking about this. It is great to see so many children organised for their Oral Language with a space fact. We love hearing them. I am seeing some wonderful progress made on the Basic Facts ladder. Keep up the great work!

We are all doing lots of thinking in Room Rimu and we are using graphic organisers to help us do this. We are learning to decide which graphic organiser will help us to do different kinds of thinking. We are still enjoying hearing all the wonderful space facts and we are going to do some short film clips about what we have learned.
Certificates Finn Y. for being a great role model and Seren for demonstrating great Whakapai Ake (self improvement) skills in her reading.
Have a great week and try to keep warm.

We all enjoyed listening to Mr Lloyd Esler. He was telling us some more interesting facts about the Sun, Moon and the Earth. Did you know that there will be a full moon on Sunday. We must all have a look in the sky to see it!

I hope everyone had a great Easter and the Easter Bunny brought lots of goodies for you all. This week you will see your child's Study Ladder password and user name in their homework book so that you can access this site at home. I have also added a handwrting sheet to the homework books too. This will make it easier for the children to form their letters correctly. We are all looking forward to beginning our block of swimming lessons which start this week.

It is an exciting week for us as we are running the assembly this week. It is the first time for most of the class so it would be great if we could get lots of parents coming along on Friday for support as a familiar face in the audience can make all the difference to confidence levels. The children are all very keen to have a go at speaking in front everyone but will need lots of practise at home so that the sentence they say is very easy for them. What they have to say will go home today in their home home folder.
